    Another Force Carbing Question

Hey KornKob, I like your "Theory" signature! and I respect your method of carbing. but in Theory everyone would have lots of beer on hand and stage it properly for a slow carb method. This is Ideal, but in reality we drink too much and don't plan well enough, and are an impatient breed so; in...

    Another Force Carbing Question

Shake it Baby! :ban: the slow method is only for those with lots of previously carbed beer on hand.:rockin:

Any reason the CO2 needs to be in fridge?

haha I guess that would mean the beer tap room is o.k. for the kids to play (drink) in there? :ban: too funny.

New to kegging, and not getting results!

Might be an obvious question, but what temperature is you keg while carbing and sitting at 14 PSI? it needs to be cold. and for the proper volumes equilibration you would need much higher pressure at room temp. plus if you poured at warm temp. it would foam.

Foam, foam, foam - any ideas?

just a consideration. it's possible that if its not your full keg that is over carbed. possibly because there was more head space in the not full keg that when you shokk it to carb there was more aggitation and surface area of beer/co2 and it would of over carbed more so than a full keg.

    Methods for filling a keg

Actually now that I'm thinking back I think I did just fill the keg with the top open. I cooled the keg first and filled from the bottom up. It was when I filtered from keg to keg that I was thinking of. I used a Liquid ball lock to filter to liquid ball lock to next keg and pushed the beer...

    Methods for filling a keg

My last batch I did just what you suggest and filled in the liquid port on the keg with a ball lock it was very clean. I'll likely use this method again next time too.

Stinky Beer!! Please read and add insight!

It was a lager maybe thats all it is but I don't think so. I assume something like this would worsen with age vs. get better if it is a bacteria? If the airlock was out of the fermenter for a couple days and the 2ndary carboy wasn'y that clean could that cause this?

Stinky Beer!! Please read and add insight!

Before carbination it was almost like a stinky armpit or wet sock smell. I gave a glass to my wife to smell and she wouldn't even consider taking a sip she said it was very gross. Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to be funny. But funny thing is I shook carbed it an hr ago and its in the fridge...

Stinky Beer!! Please read and add insight!

I finished my 1st Wheat beer in keg, It was great. I am a stickler for sanitation! at the same time a freind was fermenting a Chech Pilsner. and his attention to sanitation Leaves a bit to be desired. his transfer to carboy may of not been very clean and when I checked his airlock after a vew...

    Foaming?

Thats a good point I do have the fridge cranked to full cold. I'm not sure on the pressure except just reading the reg gauge. I could try to gear up a 2ndary gauge. Kegs gone now anyway. I'll keep that in mind for my next one thanks. would it freezing a bit cause that?

    Foaming?

I am getting down on a keg of Wheat Ale, and it served fine the whole time (kegerator with picnic tap, approx. 10' of 3/16" hose. it was about 12 psi. CO2 is in fridge, and picnic hose always stays in fridge. It seemed great all along but now it serves foam, a bunch of tiny bubbles consistantly...

    Need help with force carbing

Oh ya, I'm a shaker too. my approach is 30PSI shake or roll on my lap for 100 shakes. put it to rest in the fridge. 1 hr later drinkable and carbed. 1 day fine and nice carb, 1 week perfect, longer than that even more perfect. Its definately a quick way to carb up. and quite forgiving too. the...
