how many lbs of dme would it take to be equivalent to 3.3 lbs of lme?

My recollection is that LME is 20% water. So you would need 0.8 * #s of LME in DME. So that would be 2.64 #s.

That's a hazy recollection, though...I could be wrong.

Not sure where those numbers came from, but most LMEs are ~37 ppg, and most DME's are ~46 ppg.

So 1 lb of LME should be about 37/46 = 0.8 lb DME
and 1 lb of DME is about 46/37 = 1.25 lb LME

Got a link? 'cause the math doesn't make any sense, and every search I did turned up the 0.8 / 1.25 conversion rates. Here's what the wiki says:

When converting between dried and liquid extract, it is important to note that, since the water is completely removed, DME is more concentrated. As such, there is approximately the same amount of actual malt in 0.8 lbs. of DME as there is in 1 pound of LME.
