Well, the recipe is a little nuts, but that's the kinda beers I make. This'll be my first all-grain! I would appreciate comments greatly.

Please note: I couldn't figure out how to add pumpkin, sweet potato, and maple syrup to BeerSmith, so those are not accounted for in the IBUs, the color, or the projected O.G. If you can help me estimate the effect of those ingredients, I'd appreciate it! Brewing this tomorrow, yay!

Are you going to cook the pumpkin and sweet potatoes before adding to the beer?

Most definitely. Planning to cook both at 350 for 45 mins.

I think for the mash I will put the potato/pumpkin in grain bags, to avoid sparging issues. (And actually I'm hoping to fit the grains in a really big bag in my cooler, but we'll see how that goes.)

I did mine when I was mashing in a bag and it was a wheat beer at that. Got a workout that day. I like the addition of a small amount of smoke.

looks solid to me. in the sweet potato porter thread someone suggested adding some biscuit malt since the bread like character would compliment the "pie" thing you have going on.

Ya, I don't mind hoisting a heavy pot, there's going to be like 6 of us tomorrow and we're pretty mighty! But in the future I'll go bag-less (which I guess means the valve and a screen tube).

Does anyone have any idea how many points of OG I should expect from the sweet potato and maple syrup? I'm shooting for a final OG of 1.070 or maybe a little higher.

It should be right where you want it. Im not sure what sweet potato will add but 2 lbs of maple sugar should give you that.
