Howdy Brewmeisters,
I want to install a Blichmann Whirlpool gizmo on my brew kettle. I use a counterflow chiller, and am hoping the recirculation & whirlpooling will help me achieve more efficient cooling (especially since I'm in California where the ground water is fairly warm most of the year), and leave more cold break material in the kettle.
My question: do I want to place it down low, up high, or in the middle? And why?

I would put it in the middle of the lowest batch size you use. Angle the output with a slight upward angle to mix vertically during chilling. The why is that it actually doesn't matter as long as it's not splashing above the wort line and that it is swirling the wort in a circle.
