If they're 220/240V, by plugging them into a 110/120 outlet they'll only give you 1/4 of their power: P = V*V/R; R remains the same.

Yeah, they'll give you 1/4 of the wattage. If they're 50W at 240V, they'll be 12.5W at 120V.
