i'm in the process of my first all grain! i'm as giddy as a fat kid with cake! i'm doing a pale ale, batch sparge.... i'll post pictures and the recipe later today or tomorrow morning.

Congrats, AG brewing is the best. You should find out that its not as tough as you might have read or seen. A few years ago I laughed and said who needs AG now I would never do Malt Extract ever unless tutoring a new brewer. Good Luck hope yours turns out great!! Look forward to the pics

I think there's a fever going around... everyone's going AG, including me in a week or two. Hope everything goes well!

there is a fever go around, my first ag will be this weekend coming up.

just racked to the primary. a little below my target gravity, and i had one of the yeasts (white labs) explode as i opened it up... we'll see! but that aside it was fun and easy! i guess i can't call it easy as my og wasn't right, but it wasn't as serious as all the articles and books make it out to be. in fact i think more stress occurred before i brewed, when i was worried about my equip, hops, grains etc. than during the brew process. i look forward to doing more batches and getting my rhythm going. also next time i'll remember to eat lunch...

like i said, the O.G. was a little low @1.053, and one carboy had half the yeast end up on the outside, hopefully that will be the end of the problems. i'll have the photo's up tomorrow! please feel free to critique my recipe also, i kind of threw it together like i'm still just steeping grains!

My wife and I did our 1st AG batch awhile ago. What a blast. The aftermath was a full fermenter w/ OG hit, about 14 empty bottles, and a very tired dog, from having played fetch the whole time. It's a lot of fun, and getting good beer out of it is almost incidental. I can't believe we've been missing out on so much fun.
