. . . and its inhabitants. Up until a couple weeks ago I was spending a healthy chunk of my work day at this forum each and every day. Loved it. Now my employer is spending 16 grand on a new server and software that will be dedicated solely to the monitoring of web browsing by employees. Talk about buzz kill. This place was the only thing keeping sane. (On top of that, they've started monitoring email. My boss now requires to be CC'd on EVERY email that gets sent from our department. No more porn swaps with the hot chick who works in HR . . .)
Yes, I could check in at home. But a)I'm on a computer all day at work so I hardly ever use the one at home b)it seems like I always have other crap to do when I'm not at work and c)I only have dial up. It takes like 10 or 15 seconds for a friggin' page to load. Not that big a deal, but it seems like eternity when you're used to almost-instant at work.
Anyway, I'm a sentimental drunk so after wine with dinner and beer for dessert I started thinking about good 'ol HBT and thought I'd express my woes.
I probably won't go postal on my boss since I don't work at a post office. But if you hear of a manager somewhere who was bled to death by thousands of paper cuts . . . it was me.
