My Schwarzbier is brown

I used 1/2 pound of carafa 3 in 5 gallons but at the end if the boil it's dark brown. Can I cold steep some more carafa 3 and add before I pitch?
 
I recommend using a coffee press and black malt for color adjustments if everything tastes like it should. Clean and sanitize everything if it is post boil. Pull off a pint and add the adjustment a little at a time to get the ratio right, then scale up.
 
Funny, I just read the style guidelines and it states that they are not actually black beers, but dark brown with ruby highlights.
