I have a homemade CFC that I made into a 12-14" diameter coil by wrapping it around a brew pot. I'm thinking I'd like to get it into a tighter/more compact coil so I can fit it into a homer bucket for easier use/storage.

Am I asking for trouble by trying to get it into a tighter coil, now that I've coiled it the first time? When making it, I uncoiled the copper tubing in order to get the garden hose over it; should I uncoil then recoil or recoil from where it is now?

Thanks! Any advice is much appreciated!

Definitely recoil it without straightening it first. I'd use something smaller than my target diameter and just wind the coil until it is tight, then see where it rebounds.

A cornie might be your best mandrel.
