I've read that one shouldn't serve wine through a standard beer type faucet that contains brass. Does this apply to cider and/or mead as well? Is it a pH thing? I've done some digging and can't find any good info, so I figured I'd check around here. As much as "you should do this, not that", I'm curious about the why.

Can't say for certain, but I haven't had a problem with cider & a brass tap. Lead could in theory be a problem, but a soak in H2O2 and vinegar should take do it. As Palmer notes, green is bad.
