Ok so yesterday I smacked my activator pack in the hopes of brewing today, but i turns out I will not have time to pick up my brewpot and brew today, so would it be okay if I just left the yeast out until tomorrow? Or should I put it in the fridge even thought it has already swelled?
 
would a starter be good to go by tomorrow 4ish?

and can i use wheat extract? thats all i have on hand
 
Starters tend to finish up in 18 to 24 hours, so you would be perfectly good to go tomorrow. I use the method on this page minus the yeast nutrient.

And you can use whatever extract you have on hand.
