Wife ordered a Kombucha kit - Advice?

So I think my wife is getting jealous of my brewing and decided to start making Kombucha.She bought this kit and fliptop bottles and some sort of triple funnel.
Any ideas on the kit or how to make this stuff...no clue and never even heard of Kombucha.

Follow the instructions, should work. When you make your own, it's simple.

1 cup sugar
1 cup starter tea with SCOBY
1 gallon of water.
8-10 tea bags

Boil the water, add the tea and sugar. Let it cool. Remove tea bags. Pour into glass vessel. Add starter tea and SCOBY. Let it brew about 8-10 days to taste or ph strip at 2.8 to 3.2

That's what I do. Anyone else want to elaborate?
