When yeast is growing on an agar slant, will it only grow on the spots that were touched with the loop or will it spread out to cover the entire surface? I ask because I have had some slants that the yeast grew to cover the surface and others that just had spots that filled in. Maybe depends on the yeast?

They should grow only where the loop streaked the agar. Having said that, I've had them spread everywhere. If there is any condensation in the slant, it can drip and carry cells all over the slant. It doesn't bother me either way.
