I'm finishing up my powerpoint for HomebrewCon 2019. My topic is alternative fermentations (not beer) but I need one more photo.

I want to show a gnarly contaminated beer. The idea is "Spoiled vs Fermented", and I want to show what a non-desired group of microbes can do to a beer (or anything, actually).

Anybody willing to post up a photo I can use for the seminar? Of course credit will be given- provided you're willing to admit your identity of that nasty looking beer!

In exchange your name and submitted photo will show up here (duh) and also in front of dozens of interested people who will exclaim "Ewwwwww!" and maybe give you an "Awwwwww!" as well.

:)

Wish I had something for ya with all the help you've given over the years but I am unable, and I suppose lucky at this point

Are you looking for photos of mold or pellicle?

Pellicles are certainly "desirable" in plenty of cases :)

Either- because these are things that would be 'contamination' in the foods and drinks I'll be discussing. We're talking about microbes, from spontaneous lacto fermentation to cultures like those for cheese and sausage. More just of a picture to generate discussion, really.

The pellicle photo thread linked above should be good.

There's also the "infection" thread

Though, only about half the stuff there is a contamination.

I don't really want to unnecessarily open some of these jars for obvious reasons, but I hope these can help...

White and Green Mold (I think the red is bacteria), and a pellicle:

Here you can clearly see ~3 separate mold growths plus a pellicle:

Here's a pellicle:

Here's the same pellicle in its early stage:

Here's a pellicle on top of kräusen/foam in a cider culture:

Pellicle on mead:

Etc etc. I can take more if needed.
