- Easy, medium light body, good mouth feel and smooth bitterness
Just did this and thought I would share.
I've been making a similar watermelon wheat for the past 3 year - This time I decided to make it a little lower in alcohol, skip the watermelon and hop it up.
Nice post-lawnmowing session (and for the wifes love of IPA's). Just kegged it, came out great, although warm and no carb. Super excited to drink it. Suggestions and advice welcome.
Filtered city water with added 2.5 g CaCl2 and 1.0 g CaSO4 to balance water profile.
Mashed @ 153 F
5.5 lbs Pale 2-row
2 lbs Flaked Wheat
0.5 lb Honey Malt
0.5 lb Flaked Oat (toasted in oven for 15 min @ 225 F)
1.0 oz Tettnang (@ 60 min)
1.0 oz Citra (@ 5 min)
1.0 L starter WLP001 California Ale Yeast
Taste (uncarbonated) - Easy, medium light body, good mouth feel and smooth bitterness. About 4.5 ABV
Aroma - Citrus and Tropical Fruit (mango, et. al.)
