- Smooth, easy drinking beer with a light and crisp finish. Good caramel notes.
Grains
7 lbs. 2-Row
.5 lb Crystal 40L
.4 lb Crystal 60L
.1 lb Crystal 10L
1.5 lb Flaked Corn
Hops
1 oz Hallertau (60 minutes)
1 oz Cascade (5 minutes)
Mash at 155F for 60 minutes.
Yeast
White Labs WLP001 California Ale Yeast
*Have also used WLP060 American Ale when 001 is not available).
Notes
I have been wanting to try this with WLP080, but my LHBS doesn't carry it because he doesn't like how it smells.
The beer in the picture was from my first batch and was a little darker due to it being the first time I ever did an All Grain beer and had terrible efficiency. I ended up having to add some DME, which darkened it up a bit -- Hence the name, First Wort Problems. Subsequent batches have been a bit lighter.
OG is based on efficiency of 75%.
