An English style Pale Ale that I brewed with honey and entered as an Alternative Fermentable beer took first place in the Specialty category at the Iowa Brewers Union's IBU Open earlier this year. I received the medal in the mail a few days ago - woot!

7.5 lbs Maris Otter Pale Malt
1 lbs Munich Malt
1 lbs Wheat Malt
8 oz Caramel (20L) Malt
8 oz. Honey Malt
Hops
1 oz East Kent Goldings (5% AA) 60 min
1 oz East Kent Goldings 20 min
1 oz Challenger (6.8% AA) 5 min
Yeast and Fermentation
Windsor Yeast
Clarity Ferm
Fermented at 65F, cold crashed at 34F
Other
1 lbs honey (added towards the end of the boil)

Bitterness: 28 IBU
Color: 6.7 SRM
